Dude! 100% flex about where you live. I sometimes get annoyed or bitchy about the cost of living but then I stop and think about where I live. People from all over the world vacation here and before it became the human waste capital of the world it was amazing to live here. I'm 15 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, 30 minutes from downtown San Francisco, 10 minutes to Muir Woods, 15 minutes from Muir Beach and like 4 hours from Yosemite. Also, in like 30 minutes I can be at Union Square with a bag of popcorn and watch retail theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of goods being stolen in broad daylight. It's amazing! I love where I live!

The T-Rex was almost entirely practical. It's such a damn good piece of film that it holds up SO well even to this day. No CGI can match this.

@Alex Hefner, Interesting Fact 23:15 while filming the movie, the prop animatronic for the T-rex head would often short circuit, causing power to involuntarily activate the T-Rex while not filming. Causing many to genuinely believe the prop to be alive since the short circuiting caused it to spasm, roar, bite, and shake violently.

As someone who is NOT an expert in Paleontology, that dinosaur impression is 100% scientifically accurate.

my favourite movie ever since I saw it at a cinema as a kid with my mom :D also strongly recommend the sequel The Lost World, also directed by Spielberg, and if you really wanna see how tough we 90s kids were at cinemas, Starship Troopers would be a good example :D

I saw this opening night in Northern California. I remember me and my friends walking out of the theater afterward completely blown away. Computer graphics had finally come of age for movie special effects, and for the first time, you got the feeling that there was absolutely no more limits on what type of movies you could make, or worlds and creatures that couldn't be accurately represented on screen. Basically, this movie blew the frontiers of modern cinema wide open. To the extent that we now make movies that are practically 90% CGI driven or filmed exclusively in studios using green screens. CGI is now used extensively in TV shows as well, so the technology pretty much now influences all visual media.

21:30 yes, a lot of it is CGI. I remember at the time it came out, this was the first movie to have such realistic looking CGI and it still holds up pretty well today.

my grandmother's neighbor used to have ostriches when I was a kid. They would escape and chase mom's horses. My mother-in-law has a parrot that hates me and she's pure evil. Birds kinda suck... I did have a tame pigeon when I was a kid though. She was nice and well trained. She lived outside, but had her own little nest my father built and had a great recall.

Spielberg, the absolute mad lad, went out and filmed the Hurricane making landfall. This was actually put into the film.

This is the only movie that they did use a real prop for the T rex mixed with CGI that's why it looked so good they don't do that anymore all CGI

Nobody ever pays attention to the doc that is with the Trike. He clearly says, "Mulldoon tranqed her for me." So, Whilst the Trike is "Sick" with what equates to period cramps (By the movie logic) She isn't gonna die. She's laying down because she's stoned out of her mind at the moment.
